Ancient Judaism Workshop presents

Prof. Jae Han, Brown University

Prof. Han will explore the connections between Jewish and Manichean literary production in late antiquity, asking how the questions and paradigms we use for the former can help us think about the latter.

Jae is an Assistant Professor in the Religious Studies Department and the Program in Judaic Studies at Brown University. He has a forthcoming book from Cambridge University Press on notions of prophethood and revelation in the late antique Near East. He’s published articles in Harvard Theological Review, Journal of Late Antiquity, Numen, and Vigiliae Christianae. He’s interested in questions of history, context, and literature especially in relation to Manichaean, Jewish, and Christian literature. His second project will be on reading the Manichaean corpus from the Roman Empire as literature, whatever that might mean.” will be on reading the Manichaean corpus from the Roman Empire as literature, whatever that might mean.
